Sugar Cookie Basic's Part 1

This is the best sugar cookie recipe that I have found. The cookie's are no only tasty, they hold true to form and always come out perfect. This episode is about how to get a perfect sugar cookie from the oven. We will cover icing in another episode.

Needed to make

*1 cup butter, softened (or 2 sticks) *1 cup sugar *1 egg *1 teaspoon vanilla *1 teaspoon almond *1/2 teaspoon salt *1 teaspoon baking powder *3 cups flour

Step 1: Add butter and sugar to mixer. Mix til it looks fluffy. Step 2: Now add each item one at a time and in order. Mix well after each one. Add the flour a bit at a time. Step 3: Once everything is in mixer, scrape down the sides and mix on medium speed until everything comes off the sides and starts to form a ball. Step 4: Take everything out and place on plastic wrap. Wrap your dough and place in refrigerator for at least 4 hours. Overnight is best. Step 5: Take out dough and cut in half. Knead dough for about 5 minutes or until it has softened and is pliable. Step 6: Place dough between 2 pieces of wax paper and roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to get the shapes you want. Step 7: Place cookies on a cookie sheet, I line mine with a silicone mat. Bake at 350 for 8 to 12 minutes. Step 8: Remove from oven and allow to cool. *******************
