Cornbread


This recipe was my grandmother's and I always loved it with chili or beans.

*******************

Needed to make

* 1 cup cornmeal

* 1 cup flour

* 1 1/2 tsp. salt

* 4 tsp. baking powder

* 2 eggs

* 1 1/2 cup milk

* 1/4 cup shortening

Optional: 1 minced jalepeno and/or 1/2 can drained corn.

Step 1: Mix cornmeal, flour, salt and baking powder together.

Step 2: Add eggs, milk and shortening. Mix well. Add optional items now.

Step 3: Use shortening on an 8 x 8 oven safe pan.

Step 4: Pour mixture into pan and bake at 425 for 30 minutes.
